Legislative Action on Removing the Fraternal Tax Exemption -

Due to a Washington State budget shortfall, law makers are considering removing the tax exempt status from all fraternal organizations. As many of you already know, the Knights of Columbus is the largest fraternal organization in the state of Washington and if this legislation passes we stand to lose much of what we've worked so hard for all these years. Please consider the list of Bullet Points put together by Fred Abraham, Supreme Director of the Washington State Council to better understand the depth of the situation.

Brother Knights, we need your help now more than ever. If we lose our tax exempt status the longetivity of our fraternal organization could be at risk. Please take the time to contact our State Representatives and voice your concerns.
The Supreme Director has drafted a sample letter you might consider using when making your contacts. It is also a good idea to forward a copy of your letter to the District Deputy, the State Deputy, and the Supreme Director to further assure your voice will be heard.

Another option is to follow this link to the NFCA (National Fraternal Congress of America) website, complete your personal information, submit the form, and then "Take Action" to submit a modifiable form letter. It's easy to do and will be sent automatically to the Representatives that need to hear what you have to say!
