CAPA (Childbirth and Parenting Assistance) Program

In October of 2010, we held our first CAPA Campaign for Catholic Charities of Spokane collecting baby furniture, baby clothes and diapers as well as cash. We continued with this program holding collections once a quarter, and have at this point received many, many items and over $500 in cash contributions.

"On Your Knees" and Prayer for Life with Candle Sales

During September and October of 2010, we adopted the “On Your Knees” prayer program to celebrate the 40 Days of Life. After each Mass, we invited parishioners up to the altar to kneel with us in prayer for all aspects of life. Each week the numbers of participants grew, and by the last week the area around the altar was so crowded that we had to kneel three rows deep.

In January of 2011, on the 38th Anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, our Pastor called all Knights present at each of the three Masses to come forward and stand around the altar during the Intercessions. He joined us as we knelt around the altar and led the parish in the prayer for life. There were over 40 Knights at each of the two Sunday Masses, all in their maroon-colored council vests. It was an impressive sight. We also sold almost 100 Right to Life Candles to be lit in honor of life across the entire spectrum of ages.

Silent Vigil at Planned Parenthood

We attend, at various times, a Silent Vigil at Planned Parenthood to be witnesses to "another way" for many of these expectant mothers who are at a critical time in their lives. Partially through our efforts, many women have changed their minds about abortions and have chosen to value that life growing inside them.

County Fair Booth

In September of each year, we man a Pro Life Booth at the local county fair and provide a variety of informative literature to anyone interested.
